Various Engineering Studies and Designs for Tullow Oil Kenya BV Upstream Oil & Gas exploration in South Lokichar, Turkana County

1. Carried out a study on the evaluation of a cost-efficient surface well test and well test completion approaches for onshore oil production in The South Lokichar Basin, Turkana County in Kenya.
   • Studied and gave recommendations on the option of owning and operating well test surface equipment as well as some components of the downhole equipment required during well testing operations.

2. Carried out a study on Well Intervention for 5 wells under EOPS in the South Lokichar Basin, Turkana County, Kenya.
   • Successfully completed the study and presented recommendations to TKBV that will assist TKBV to safely continue production operations including the following:
     • Displacement of the oil in the tubing with a selected fluid (water or diesel) given the waxy nature of the Lokichar Wells crude oil.
     • Intervention in the well should there be a failure of the pumping system.

 

3. Carried out Local Content study and finalized the Local Content Evaluation Tool.
   • Successfully carried out the study and helped TKBV in creating a tool that allows evaluation of local content of their projects for each of its phases i.e. drilling & completion, construction, and production).  We specifically categorized the tool as follows:
     • International Content
     • Turkana Content
     • Kenya Content (excluding Turkana)

• • The above was further subdivided into 4 sub-categories i.e. equipment, materials, services, people.

4. We did a “Lookback” Study on water injection trials in the South Lokichar Basin Wells, Turkana County, Kenya.
